Working out GST-inclusive or exclusive amounts across India's standard tax slabs is a routine task for shopping, billing and accounting. This calculator handles it using the common 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% slab rates.

Exclusive (Add GST) calculation adds GST on top of a base amount you enter; inclusive (Remove GST) calculation extracts the GST portion from a total that already includes tax.

The calculator offers the four standard Indian GST slabs, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, selectable from a dropdown; it does not currently accept an arbitrary custom percentage.

The applicable slab depends on the specific goods or services involved, check current government GST rate schedules for your category if you are unsure which of the four rates applies.

How it works
  1. 1

Choose Add GST or Remove GST

Pick "Add GST" to calculate tax on top of a base amount, or "Remove GST" to extract tax from a total that already includes it.

Type the base amount or tax-inclusive total, depending on the mode you chose.

  3. 3

Pro tips
  • ·Make sure you've picked the correct mode, Add GST for exclusive amounts, Remove GST for inclusive totals, mixing these up gives a wrong result even with the right rate.
  • ·Confirm the applicable slab for your specific goods or service against current government rate schedules, since the calculator only offers the four standard rates.
  • ·When reconciling accounts, extract GST from inclusive totals rather than re-adding it to avoid double-counting tax.
