ODS is the OpenDocument spreadsheet format used by LibreOffice Calc, OpenOffice and many government bodies that standardise on open formats. Excel can open ODS, but not always cleanly, and many web services and scripts accept only XLSX or CSV. This converter reads the ODS file in your browser and writes an Excel workbook or CSV, keeping every sheet, value and date.

Sheet names, values, text, numbers, dates and calculated formula results. Styles, charts and the formulas themselves do not.

You can, but Excel sometimes mis-reads ODS formulas and formatting, and many web apps and data tools do not accept ODS at all.

Yes. ODS compresses runs of identical cells, and these are expanded back into ordinary rows and columns.

Not here yet. LibreOffice opens XLSX directly and can save it as ODS.

How it works
  1. 1

    Add the .ods file

Drop spreadsheets from LibreOffice, OpenOffice or an official open-data download.

  2. 2

    Choose sheets

All sheets, or only the first.

  3. 3

    Pick XLSX or CSV

XLSX keeps multiple sheets; CSV gives one flat file per sheet.

  4. 4

    Convert and download

Open the result in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

Pro tips
  • ·Choose CSV for data you will import elsewhere; XLSX for people who will read it
  • ·Check number columns that use a comma as the decimal mark after converting
  • ·For the reverse direction, save from LibreOffice as .ods
