Compare PDFs highlights the differences between two versions of a document side by side, which is invaluable when reviewing a redlined contract, checking a revised report against the original, or verifying that a reprinted document matches its source. Both files are loaded and compared directly in your browser, so neither document is uploaded to a remote comparison service.

It primarily compares text and page content differences, highlighting additions and removals between the two versions.

Yes, but know how it pairs them: page 1 is compared with page 1, page 2 with page 2, and extra pages at the end show as added or removed. If a page was inserted near the start, every later page is compared with the wrong one and looks heavily changed. For a document whose pagination shifted, extract the text of both and compare it with the text diff tool instead.

Comparison works best on PDFs with a text layer; purely scanned image pages may only be compared visually rather than by text differences.

Yes, though comparing very large files may take longer depending on your device performance.

Depending on sensitivity settings, formatting-only changes without text differences may or may not be highlighted.

Pro tips
  • ·Use this on PDFs with a text layer for the most reliable results; purely scanned pages can only be compared visually.
  • ·Expect page-count differences to show up clearly as added, removed, or shifted pages between versions.
  • ·For very large documents, give the comparison a bit more time to process on lower-powered devices.
