A PSD is Photoshop's working file: layers, masks, adjustment layers and text that stays editable. Most people who receive one only need to see or use the finished picture, and without Photoshop that is surprisingly hard: Windows and most phones show a blank icon. This converter reads the PSD in your browser and saves the flattened image as PNG (keeping transparency), JPG or WebP, so a client's mock-up or a designer's export can be viewed, shared or dropped into a document without any Adobe software.
No: PNG, JPG and WebP are single flat images, so the result is what the design looks like with all visible layers combined. Keep the PSD if you need to edit layers later.
The converter uses the flattened preview Photoshop stores inside the file when "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" is on, which is exact. If that preview is missing, visible layers are stacked in order, and blend modes, layer effects and adjustment layers are not reproduced. Re-saving the PSD with Maximize Compatibility turned on fixes it.
Files of a few hundred megabytes work on a laptop. The whole file has to fit in the browser's memory, so a phone may struggle with the largest ones.
They convert, but colours are shown in RGB for the screen. For print work, export from Photoshop with your colour profile instead.
- 1
Add the PSD
Drop one or more .psd files. Large Photoshop Big (.psb) files are accepted too.
- 2
Pick PNG, JPG or WebP
PNG keeps transparent areas; JPG is smallest for photographic designs; WebP is for the web.
- 3
Optionally resize
A 4000 px artboard can be scaled down to the size you actually need.
- 4
Convert and download
The flattened image downloads; several PSDs arrive as one ZIP.
- ·Choose PNG when the design has a transparent background you want to keep
- ·Ask designers to save with Maximize Compatibility on: it makes every viewer, including this one, show the file exactly
- ·Resize during conversion; full-size PSD exports are often far larger than any screen needs
